Intensive Personal Development Programme
This Programme emphasises the convergence of the spiritual and psychological aspects of your life. One to one and group therapy is at the core of the process. You will attend a therapy group four times a week, a weekly community building session, as well as a weekly individual therapy session. You will be expected to keep a personal daily journal which you will share with another participant(s) on the programme. You will learn self integration tools to help you continue your growth after leaving the Institute. This is not a course where you choose portions in which you wish to participate; you will be required to participate fully in all aspects of the Programme.
Spirituality:
You will be helped and encouraged to develop and deepen your own spiritual life through communal prayer and time for reflection. You are expected to develop the art of fostering spiritual growth in yourself and your relationships. The importance of reconciliation in daily life with God, others and ourselves will be stressed throughout the Programme. The aim of all this and the result should be a simple and single-minded commitment to the love of Christ, and in that, acceptance of yourself and love of your neighbours. The Eucharist, together with Morning and Evening Prayer, is celebrated daily as an integral part of the Programme.
Life at the Institute:
Community experience is an essential element of life at Saint Anselm. Your time will be divided between personal space for reflection, times spent in your Programme activities, and interaction with Saint Anselm‘s larger multi-cultural community. The inherent struggles in unifying your spiritual life with your secular life are addressed through this process. Here you will directly experience how community can enhance personal development.
Being a part of Saint Anselm’s multi-cultural community offers you an opportunity to appreciate and value cultures and ways of community other than your own. Relationship building is fostered in the daily situation of praying, learning, relaxing and living together within this international community. The multi-cultural community provides an opportunity to practise constructive communication where truly listening and absorbing is of paramount concern in forming vibrant, growth-producing relationships. The whole art of constructive communication and the forming of growth producing relationships plays a prominent part in this programme. Here, the relationship between community and individual development is a living experience.
